The Role
I really enjoyed my summer here - my colleagues were very friendly and I felt adequately challenged by my work.
I got on really well with my team and they said I had helped out a lot.
I felt very supported when I had difficulties and knew I could approach my manager or colleagues if I had problems.
There were times I was very busy but this was common among the whole team. I preferred having work to do rather than having nothing.
I was given tasks that were typical of a part-qualified or fully qualified accountant so I felt I was given plenty of responsibility.
I built on my Excel and communication skills, which may help in my degree studies, but the majority of what I learnt will be incredibly helpful in my future career.
The Company
There was a good mix of friendly chat and people working hard.
Much more organised than last year but I think more communication was needed between my team and HR as my team was told I wouldn't be around much the first week due to training sessions but these were only typically 1-2 hours a day and were spread out across the internship scheme.
There are lots of learning sessions in the auditorium for all staff, ranging from fund awareness sessions to business strategy updates to personal wellbeing sessions. There was also a personality test for the interns where someone from HR discussed the results and things to work on with you.

Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I've applied for the Finance Graduate Scheme but unlike the other graduate schemes (and as it is new), decisions won't be made until next year.
The Culture
There were social events organised by HR for all the interns and some interns did organise other social events. The Finance interns went out for dinner the last week we were all together.
While it wasn't cheap, it is London and the bars weren't that bad. The salary takes into account the living expenses so it is reasonable.
Lots of bars nearby and close to different tube stations to go to other clubs in London.
Lots of events such as food walking tours, ghost tours, O2 ballots, 5 a side, softball tournaments and so on.
