The Role
Really enjoyable and varied internship. Perfect balance of training and learning on the job, with tons of exposure to directors and partners across the firm.
I had a real sense that the work I was doing was useful, and not just pointless busy-work to keep me occupied. Everyone was patient and really took the time to make sure I understood everything and that I was enjoying myself.
The objective and feedback system at PwC acts as a really simple and transparent performance indicator, and I always knew what I had to do to improve.
My project was very self paced, so it was left to me to structure my time to meet the final deadline. This was very challenging at first, but I soon got to grips with being the master of my own time sheet and doing what I needed to do. Work definitely got busier towards the deadline, but at no point did I feel too swamped. And I was definitely never bored!
My project was entirely self paced and independent, and it felt great to have the trust from the Partner to do this.
Im studying Experimental Psychology, so there aren't too many obvious parallels in skills gained. However I did learn a lot in terms of organisation and project mnagement which has helped my work on my Dissertation and Research Project in my final year. In terms of consultancy skills, I learnt enormous amounts and I would feel confident entering the PwC graduate programme - or any other graduate programme for that matter - with a leg up on other applicants.
The Company
Really relaxed but still professional. The hours were fantastic, and everyone really did encourage me to leave on time every day.
The internship was organised fantastically both regional and nationally, and there were plenty of chances to meet up with interns across the country and centralised events during the internship.
Technically speaking, I was trained in Tableau, a fantastic data visualisation tool, completely from scratch and given lots of excel training. I was also given tons of personal development points throughout the internship through objectives, and I was able to collect feedback from my seniors and peers to improve

Really appealing - I am thrilled to have a graduate offer.
The Culture
I built a network of interns across the UK, and spent lots of time with the interns in my office. We had a group chat going the whole time and we were always there for each other which was really reassuring. There were also plenty of nights out to enjoy!
Costs were really reasonable and I felt that I was able to enjoy myself without breaking the bank.
The nightlife in Belfast is definitely much more vibrant than at my university! We even went to Rory McIlroy's favourite club.
Yes loads - all of my colleagues were really keen to suggest places and sights to see and I saw an awful lot of Belfast during the internship.
