The Role
I found the internship very enjoyable as I was able to experience a wide range of jobs, with a variety of clients. Although it was, at times, challenging, due to my lack of previous expertise or experience in my role, I found that learning new skills was very rewarding.
I felt that I was well valued by my colleagues. Every team member that I worked with was eager to help me and give me work, despite having many tasks to complete themselves. I felt that I could always go to any member of the team for help and was encouraged to do so at any time.
Although I did not have a lot of contact with members of the management team (managers, directors), I received a lot of support and guidance from other, more senior members of staff on a daily basis. I was given a 'buddy' who I met with on arrival, who was available to help me with any problem. I also met with a manager both at the start and end of my internship, who was available to help me where necessary, and who oversaw my development over the course of the internship. However, I received support and guidance from every member of the team throughout my internship and found this to be invaluable.
Given that I was placed on numerous jobs throughout my internship, this would vary on a weekly basis. At the start of my internship in particular, I found that I was not overwhelmed with work, and often had to find ways to busy myself. At other times, I was extremely busy with work. It entirely depended on the job.
I found that I was given a lot of responsibility during my internship - more than I was expecting. I was working to the level of a graduate and therefore had independent tasks to complete and would report to senior members of staff once my work was complete. I was also given a lot of contact with the client, frequently on my own, where I was completing tasks which were vital to the audit.
Although my degree subject is not related to my role in audit, I have found that there are many skills that I learned which can be applied into my daily life. The one that sticks out to me most is having greater networking skills, which is imperative to all parts of life, whether it be in university or in other jobs.
The Company
Given my role as an audit intern, I spent most of my time on client site, which meant that I was not often in the PwC offices. When I was on client site, I worked with a team who were similar in age to me and therefore found that I had a lot in common with many of the team members and could develop a good relationship with them. When I did go into the offices, I found everyone extremely approachable but at the same time, found the office environment less lively than I had expected.
The internship was very well organised. Even prior to the start of my internship, I received lots of information via email which helped me greatly. I received training at the start and then throughout my internship attended development days which had been very well thought out in terms of structure and content. To conclude the internship, I attended an event in London which was very well organised. However, sometimes I found that I was placed on jobs where my contribution was limited, due to my skill level and the stage that the audit team was at. In this way, I feel that the work given to me could have been slightly better organised.
I feel that the company invested a lot into me in terms of training and development. I received training at the start of my internship which was very helpful over the course of the 6 weeks, as well as a training day at the mid way point which gave me the chance to learn and put into practice important skills that could be applied to my work.

I would be very happy to take up a job with PwC. I found the work to be interesting and the people I worked with to be friendly and approachable.
The Culture
During my internship I was not given the opportunity to take part in any social events, given that it was a busy time for my team. I was aware that social events do usually happen at varying points of the year. In terms of my fellow interns, little effort was made to organise events by PwC. Given my status outside of the office, I had little opportunity to socialise with the other interns.
I worked on client site and therefore did not experience the nightlife near to the offices.
I found that there were not many activities outside of work. This was perhaps due to it being a busy time for my team.
