The Role
Really enjoyed this placement more than others and felt really at home during the 2 weeks.
They HR team took care of us very well and I was given some engaging and valuable tasks to do while on placement. As far as I am aware some of the research I undertook was useful to those who instructed me.
There were occasions when I felt like we were without guidance but there was always support when needed and it wasn't long before we were given some guidance.
I dont remember being bored at all! Especially in the media department where I got to listen in on client conferences, went to court, research on high profile cases etc...
See above, I really helped on some days if the department was short handed and as the media department was a small niche department there was alwaus something for me to do.
It was a long time ago and I feel the 2 weeks on Vacation Schemes for law firms isn't aimed at developing your skills but rather at giving you a taste for life at the law firm and life in the legal sector in general. My skills have been development more at the LPC/LLB courses!
The Company
Some good nights out ptovided and the trainees were fun!
I did 3 vacation schemes that summer and it was the best one out of the lot.
They paid me for my vacation scheme. They paid for my travel expenses for the interview and the assessment scheme that followed. They have paid for my LPC fees (around £13,000) and have given me a maintenance grant for the year to live off. This is on top of the actual salary I will be receiving once I start as a trainee solicitor next September.

Equity partnership is attractive and the fact that people can rise to the top fairly quickly!
The Culture
See above. We have a social next week to go to as well as Xmas and Summer socials then there was the curry night for Vac Schemes and the general after work drinks!

Marj Janes is quite good and there is a few bars in the same building! and liverpool street is close by too
No, short placement so focus was on life inside the office not outside!
