The Role
The people were great and the structure of the internship was good, but at times there was too little work or it was repetitive.
I felt highly valued and my colleagues for the most part took a huge interest in coaching me.
PwC had a great structure for support and I was mostly guided well by my managers and had people to speak to about it when I was not.
This was the main issue with my internship, I was often left with no work to do and was bored. While it meant that I worked less intensive hours, I would have liked to have been busier.
I did not have a lot of work to do at times, so sometimes I was given harder tasks with more responsibility as something for me to do. They were also keen for interns to take the initiative and give themselves more responsibility.
Both people skills and technical skill development was valuable.
The Company
Working in larger teams was fun, but smaller teams were lacking atmosphere.
Good introductory residential trip and good concluding activities. Only issue was knowing where to be on the first day in the office alone.
Huge investment in their interns, and I found them incredibly accommodating when I wanted to change both my line of service and the year I wanted to start which made me want to stay.
Offered a job and with the option of deferring for a year.
The Culture
Other interns in other services seemed to have more social occasions, but I missed my offices AGM and summer party so didn't benefit from as much of the socials. We organised nights out with the other interns regardless.
Based in London so expensive, especially for those who had quite far to get home.
Based in London
Speaking to graduates there suggested that they do lots outside work but I was not there long enough to benefit from this.
