The Role
Really enjoyed the internship overall. The Birmingham office is very modern and I found everyone that worked there very friendly. Everyone is quick to help and the work was very interesting and challenging.
Everyone was very friendly and one manager made an extra effort to get me involved with the work he was doing.
You have a people manager who you can take any issues to and who checks on your progress. Aside from that everyone in the office made sure I was settling in, had work and made sure they were to help when I had any problems.
I was kept very busy but as the work was interesting and complex I didn't mind. I was involved in work more complex than I expected an internship to be given so this made me feel trusted and valued in the team.
A lot of the work I was given was overseen by senior members in the firm and I was also involved in work that was highly important and sent straight to the client.
I learnt invaluable skills and knowledge about Tax and accountancy that I will need in future.
The Company
Everyone is very friendly and bubbly so the team was easy to get along with and people are often having conversations while doing work.
The internship was very well organised as pwc has been running this programme for awhile. I always knew where I had to go and what was expected of me.
The company are keen for you to set feedback goals and check on your development and progress, although it was difficult to develop too much in such a short time period.
Company Parties/Events
I was offered a graduate job at the end of the internship.
The Culture
Birmingham has a great night life and the group of interns at the Birmingham office were always keen to do night outs or drinks after work, as well as employees at the firm.
I live in the area so I didn't have to pay rent but in terms of nights out and lunch it's average.
Birmingham has lots of clubs and bars so there's always somewhere to go.
PwC have many sports teams and clubs that they're keen to get you involved with.
