The Role
Overall I enjoyed it. I learned a lot about tax in particular VAT and I met a lot of nice people.
I was invited to Friday team socials but I felt that my colleagues could have approached me more often than they did whether it would be about work or just getting to know me.
I had a buddy and a people manager who were both extremely supportive. I could always approach them if I had a question and were always helpful.
Unfortunately as it was the summer ever so often a few people would go away on holiday. This coupled with the fact that it was a very quiet period in the office meant that I didn't have a great deal of work. Also as I had no technical training I was of limited use to my colleagues.
Despite the lack of knowledge I was given some responsibility. One job involved preparing a presentation that would be sent directly to a client.
I was able to develop my team working, communication and organisation skills which will be useful in anything I do in the future.
The Company
The atmosphere was nice. It was quite relaxed and a lot of people are quite young so it is not very intimidating.
Workplace was organised but could've been a bit more structured in terms of ensuring I had some work to do.
Difficult to invest in me because it was only a six week internship. But they did encourage a lot of training to gain knowledge of the area because any job offer would be in the same team as the one I worked in on the internship.
I would really like to work with PwC because the culture within the organisation is really great. The people I met are friendly and I'm sure this is the case across the organisation.
The Culture
Some other interns organised some nights out but generally I socialised within my team. Fridays we always went out to lunch and there were regular Friday night drinks in one of the local bars.
I lived at home but there were a lot of bars and pubs to choose from in the area. Drinks weren't overly expensive but given it was central London it wasn't cheap either.
Very rarely went out at night in the area (just wanted to relax after work)
PwC have programmes outside work but I didn't get involved as I was only on a six week internship.
