The Role
I enjoyed it very much. Overall, it was a great experience. I would be happy to return and work for them in future.
I felt valued by my colleagues. I got along with all the colleagues I came across. The majority of the people I worked with was of a similar age (in their 20's) which made it a little more comfortable.
I was given a lot of support and guidance from the very first day to the last day of my placement. The first week of the placement was all training based with 3 days residential training and the other 2 days office training. Everyone was supportive throughout. When a task was assigned to me, I was shown how to perform the task before starting.
On a daily basis, I would say I was busy for 2/3 hours out of 7.5 hours. A lot of the time, my colleagues were struggling to find work for me. Some days I would have something to do for the morning, but the rest of the day would be free.
In terms of the tasks I was assigned, it was my responsibility to complete it fully. If there was anything that I missed, after it had been reviewed, I would have to go back to the work and complete it.
There were many skills that I have found valuable to me. For example, I learnt a number of computer skills that could be applied in future.
The Company
I was in the office 30% of the time. This is because the majority of the work was client based. During my time at the office I noticed there was a relaxed and comfortable environment. The office is set out as an open plan and everyone seemed really friendly.
The placement was very well organised with a training period in the first week with the rest of the interns. When joining my local office, I seamlessly joined a group of colleagues on client work and was felt part of a team. This continued and I was always fixed to client work throughout my time. At the end, all the interns met up an event organised by the company which was a nice way to finish I thought.
I felt they invested a lot in me. There was a lot of effort that was put into the training which lasted for a whole week out of the 6 weeks of the internship. Then there was a day at the regional office during the middle of the internship which was to see how everyone was doing. At the end, there was an event for all the interns. Also, throughout the internship, colleagues always spent time on me and were willing to offer me help and advice.
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I got offered a job with them at the end of the internship.
