The Role
My work placement year was a fantastic year where I met many new people and made fantastic connections. I thoroughly enjoyed the year from start to finish.
Being part of a small integral team allowed my presence to be thoroughly valued and respected. They listened to constant new ideas and many of them were taken on board and adapted to enhance the team.
My manager although in another country was fully supportive of the team I was based in. We had regular meetings with my manager and felt thoroughly guided through any query. My UK based supervisor was fantastic and we worked very closely together.
My business depended on business need. With ongoing projects, I was always busy to some respect however there were periods I was less busy. My business changed daily.
I was given a lot of responsibility. Being in a small group allowed me to voice my opinions and take on board further aspects of the groups daily activities. With my tenaciousness, I showed to my supervisor and manager I was able to handle many tasks and in turn, a large amount of responsibility. They nurtured my personality and never suppressed me in any way.
Time keeping and time management skills are the qualities that will assist my final year at university. Together with an improvement in organisation and leadership, these skills will prove to be extremely beneficial during final year projects and the busy exam period. Being in a professional environment has allowed my confidence and professional presence to soar, which will aid my career in the future.
The Company
Being in a small team allowed us all to work very closely. Our personalities matched perfectly and we helped each other through all activities and dilemmas. My colleagues and I got on extremely well and I class them as friends after my placement year.
The organised was very clear and concise - regular emails and contact with my manager and allowed all of my prior questions to starting my placement to be answered.
My personality was nurtured and I undertook a numerous amount of training in order to obtain the position I did. I would gladly return should the opportunity arise.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I would return to the company without question. A fantastic company to work for.
The Culture
There was a large Student community however with the location I was in, it involved travelling to the events. At the site I was based there was 3 other placement students and we met up regularly for dinners and coffee evenings. I made good friends.
Being in the southern region, the living, travelling and socialising cost was a little but not too expensive.
NO nightlife.
Not too many opportunities, to be involved in anything, it would have involved travelling into Central London.
