The Role
I thought my internship was a great insight into a new business area. I feel I learnt a lot of business skills and I would definitely do the internship again.
Everyone in the office was so friendly and treated me as one of them from the start. Very nice environment to work in.
My team leader was very supportive and was always there for me when I had any questions. She was reassuring at the start when I was nervous and had me bonding with my team which was great.
The workload fluctuated depending on how many people were in the office. I would say sometimes I could have done with more work or a project to work on when there wasn't much work for me to do. From speaking to other interns the workload varied depending on which department you were in.
I was given as much responsibility as I could be given the fact that I have no formal qualifications and people were keen to involve me with their work which was a great insight.
I have been offered a place on the Commercial Insurance Graduate Scheme so hopefully the skills will come in very useful.
The Company
The general atmosphere was quite relaxed. Often Fridays were dress down which was nice and we went to the pub every Friday lunchtime which was always fun. It was a much better and friendlier atmosphere than I had expected coming into such a big office.
The placement was very well organised. I got the chance to go to London and various events where I got to meet the other interns from around the country. I got the chance to go on days out with Surveyors and Business Developers which was a nice change from being in the office and gave you a different perspective from just staying in the office. I think there might be the option to visit more offices in future which would be interesting for any new interns.
The company is fantastic in terms of the investment they will put into their workers. They are always keen for you to undertake personal development and would pay for any extra qualifications you may want to take.

They have an impressive graduate program and I have accepted a place on the Commercial Insurance scheme!
The Culture
Yes we used to go to the pub every week and there were a few nights out as well.
I lived at home during my placement but generally the costs of socialising were very reasonable.
Good.
There were some but I didn't get much chance during my internship to do so.
