The Role
I really enjoyed my internship. Highlights included sitting in board meetings and brought along to weekly meetings, along with projects that I lead.
From the first day I was treated as an equal by everyone, I was welcomed into the Treasury team, and by the end of my internship felt at ease with everyone.
I was given a clear supervisor from the first day that was always open to help me whenever I required help. Not only this, but everyone else was very welcoming and offered support whenever I needed it. There was also weekly meetings with my supervisor to discuss updates on my on-goings.
Most days I started in the morning by completing the daily cash balance, this tended to take up most of the morning, working closely with the cash forecasting team. In the afternoons I would tend to have meetings or I would be working on my own to finish some of the other projects that I had been assigned. Some days tended to drag in the afternoon due to a lack of work.
I was involved in key aspects of the company and mistakes that I may have made, would have had a huge financial impact on the company. Training was provided however and as long as you are willing to learn, there is noting to worry about.
This internship provided me with great real life working experiences, whilst also developing ideas that I had learnt in part of my degree in finance. Arranging meetings, phone conferences etc are all skills that will be transferrable to the future.
The Company
Everyone was really friendly and there was always a good atmosphere in the team.
This was the aspect that I felt could be most improved. Make sure you speak to fellow interns before to flat share!
Ford is a great company to work for, training is available to all who want it. A key thing for people who work at
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Very appealing - looking to go back.
The Culture
Due to a lot of the fellow interns living locally, they were less inclined to wanting to go out. However the rest of us went into London or met up most weekends for drinks.
Very expensive, south east England is pricey!
Brentwood has Sugarhut and all the other TOWIE rubbish, however London is about 30/45 mins on a train and definitely worth a night out!
There was sports clubs - I played badminton and also five-a-sides with work colleagues.
