The Role
I was given huge responsibility and loved every second of it. The projects I was involved in were not minor projects either.
There is a great atmosphere around the company. Everyone is friendly and there are some great social events after work to get involved with.
Support was always on hand if it was required. However I didn't feel like I was being treated like an idiot. There was always opportunity to complete training if I felt it would benefit my job role.
This ranged from day to day. The job role I was in meant I was sometimes waiting for responses, however as time went in I had more and more jobs to do so had less "downtime"
This was a great plus to the summer placement. I was given a project to myself (with some supervision) almost as I walked in the door to get on with however I thought best. A great way to learn!
The real life experience of the engineering world is invaluable and will hugely help me in my future studies. I hope the placement also gave me the opportunity to show what I was capable of, so that hopefully one day I can return to Caterpillar.
The Company
Really friendly, everyone is happy to help and do so with a smile on their face.
Considering it is not a regular program, the placement went well and was managed very effectively.
If I felt it was necessary the company was always happy to invest in my training. A great advantage of CAT.
I hope to apply to the graduate scheme.
The Culture
Yes, a close group of us were very good friends by the end of our placement.
Peterborough was a cheap place to live.
Ok, but there are good places not too far away.
Yes, lots of sporting activities around. I went rowing, played football and many other sports.
