The Role
A great experience, learned a lot about the company and the sector while still working on current projects alongside colleagues.
Most colleagues were very friendly and quick to give advice and help when needed. Everyone was very approachable making my placement much easier.
Giving clear instructions about what I need to do, I was aware of any support I needed if I had any problems.
Always given an hour lunch, never left without a task, never had to much I couldn't handle it.
I was given enough responsibility to get an idea of the role of a mechanical engineer on the company.
I learned a lot about professionalism in the workplace and how my studies would be applied. I also leaned how to use new pieces of software which will be very useful if I pursue a career in the industry.
The Company
Friendly individuals, no problems or conflicts.
Apart from a few early hiccups, everything ran smoothly and I was aware of what I was meant to be doing.
Not really relevant as wasnt there long enough. However I was made aware of training schemes available in the company if I was to stay for longer.
I would love to come back on another placement and possibly a graduate placement!
The Culture
Talked with multiple students on my lunch breaks but spent most my time with full time staff.
Already lived in the area, cost of socialising is very cheap anyway.
Good night life although I didn't participate during my placement.
Couple of opertunities to join sporting events but not many. Invited to the pub after work a couple of times too.
