The Role
The job was great, the people were great and overall it was a great experience.
Everyone was always willing to help and appreciated the work that I put into my job.
The managers guided me however also gave me the freedom to make my own mistakes so that I could learn from them. I was always supported and felt like I had someone to go to.
Sometimes there was lots of work to do and at others there was nothing. There was nothing that could be done about this though as I was dealing with user problems and they can crop up on a random basis.
I was in charge of a couple of systems, although I had to get sign off from my boss before any big changes could be made. This made me feel like I was trusted and helped me gain confidence in my work.
I have built up transferable skills and also seen how the content of my degree applies to the working environment. I can't wait to finish university and continue with my career using this placement to help me.
The Company
Work hard play hard was the attitude of my team. When the work needed to be done it was done.
However I feel this has developed since I have been a placement student.
I don't feel as though I had much personal training.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
If jobs are avaliable once I finish my degree I would look to apply to the company.
The Culture
The costs weren't too bad, average rent in student accomodation £300 per month not including bills. Socialising could become quite expensive but there are cheaper options out there.
There are pubs. bars and clubs. It's not far from the university so there are lots of students around too.
There were opportunities but I never got involved.
