The Role
I was based at Dunton and the working environment was good and most of the people were friendly and helpful. I was given quite a bit of responsibility and plenty of opportunities but still sometimes found myself slightly bored.
I had been placed into a team that really needed extra help so my contribution was definitely valued. I didn't feel as though I was being treated any differently to permenant employees.
My manager was always willing to listen if I needed help and was proactive in finding things for me to do.
Generally didn't have enough work to fill each day because what I could work on was limited by my knowledge of the company and the timeframe of the internship. However my manager was excellent at trying to give me extra responsibility as it became clear I didn't have enough to do.
I was given ownership of a project and was able to report to senior managers at the end of my internship. I was also given extra responsibilities when I said I wasn't busy enough.
The experience I had at Ford definitely challenged me and enabled me to develop my skills further. I feel that am better prepared for the working world and will be more likely to get the job of my choice as a result.
The Company
Everyone was friendly and supportive. There was plenty to get involved with as well, for example a team building day, sports event, test drive event and facility tour
I generally felt I had all the information I needed and my colleagues were expecting to host me and had work set aside for me.
I was able to take part in internal training courses and allowed £50 to spend on training.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
I was fast tracked to the assessment centre stage of the graduate scheme and would happily accept a job if I get through.
The Culture
All the interns were put in touch with each other and each organised as much or as little socialising as they wanted to. Interns had lunch together most days as well.
Fairly reasonable.
Not something that really interested me so hard to comment.
Not a lot centrally organised but plenty of people in the office organised their own events/activities.
