The Role
I really enjoy it, its tough but its fast paced and ever changing which is exciting.
I do feel valued by my collegues as i know my work is relevant and important to the business
You are expected to start performing from day one which is difficult and there isnt much room for mistakes, but being thrown in at the deep end means you end up picking the role up really quickly and learning lots straight away. You are given support from people in your immediate team but you are expected to be very independent.
Very busy on a daily basis- too busy at times, but thats the nature of Loreal
You are given so much responibility and expected to get on with it and perform without that much guidance. However once you pick it up and are responsible for your own projects from start to finish it is very rewarding.
The skills I have gained are invaluable I have learnt so much from my time at L'Oreal that will give me a head start as a grad.
The Company
fast-paced, exciting, ever-changing, reactive, chaotic at times but if you work well in a disorganised environment then its a great place to be
the work placement is really well set-up. you are walking into a proper role that needs to be filled and are not just an extra member of the team. The recruitment process was efficent and there is chance to meet other interns before you start. My only criticism is I think there should be a little more in depth training at the begining
It really depends on the brand you are placed with and your team, how much training and development you get, they are responsible for setting your projects which will expand and develop your skills. Some roles are really admin based where as others you get better/more projects
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
very appealing but its very tough to get into the grad scheme, other companies probably have a much higher conversion rate from interns to grads.
The Culture
very good social scene, with around 100 interns per intake there is plenty of other interns to make friends with and even live with, LOreal set up a facebook group which is a great way to meet eachother intially. There is also monthly parties and teams often go for dinner/on nights out.
Its London so its expensive, probably twice as much as anywhere else, its pretty tight especially with the £18k salary but is possible
nightlife not particuarly good in the immediate area but its London so your only a tube ride away from somewhere great. There is however the Queens Head pub round the corner from the office where lots of people tend to go for drinks after work
Yes there are intern sports team such as Netball and Football
