The Role
I had a great time. With so many interns their its so easy to make friends. The section I worked in was very chilled and more often than not I was allowed to just craic on and go my work without my team constantly checking up on me. Also, the floor i worked on was really social, organsizing events for everyone to help everyone to get to know each other and to keep morale high on the floor.
I felt very valued. I had weekly catch ups with my manager so that we could go through my work together. She would also take this opportunity to feedback to me what my team thought of work, how I was performing ect. My team were always very appreciatove of any extra projects I would pick up for them and also would sometimes request that I do certain projects as they thought I would do it well.
I felt like I had a lot of support and guidance. I had a slot every week in my managers diary incase I had a problem or wanted to catch up. My manager was always to help if I had missed a deadline or made a mistake. Very friendly and helped me alot.
I was pretty busy on a daily basis. But I always had time to grab brerakfast when i got to work, have a full hour off for lunch and a tea break in the afternoon. I would always have something to do, but if you mange your time well then you would always be able to leave more or less on time. On average I would leave between 5 and half 5.
I was given alot of repsosibilty. Every month or so I would design leaflets to go in boots and superdrug stores up and down the country. I was asked to do an in depth market analysis to be reported back to the UK Director and CEO of the whole company. My major project was to design and run the christmas GWP with over 200,000 units being made and sold in boots around christmas.
My time management skills have improved dramatically, i know longer procrastinate as much and can seem to be ablet o just crack on. I am more accurate in what I do because I have learnt to thing that only the best is what I should be trying to achieve. This should really help when I go back to uni and have to get back into the swing of writing essays.
The Company
In my area it was always very busy but also relaxed. everyone would be doing work, buyt every now and then we would just sit and chat as a team. Overall there was a very postive atmosphere in the office no matter how well we were perfomring or how stressful it was at busy times.
Very well organsised. On my first day I sat down with my manager and we penciled out exactly what I wanted to achieve during my time at L'Oreal. My computrer and desk were ready for me upon arrival. My manager had planned out what she expected from me, pointed out the major tasks I would be handling and talked me through any adhoc jobs that could pop up and what I should do if anything goes wrong, or who to ask if i need help.
The company invested alot in me. They offerend many trainsing course on programmes such as nielson, kantar and BI. All companies around the world use these programmes to that was very useful. To help me with this, my team gave me projects to work on using these programmes to help me get better and better on it, and everntually be as they put it 'the master of nielsen'.

I would say they are rather appealing. It is made very clear fromt he start what you need to do to get onto the grad scheme. So if it is something you want to do then your route to ahcieveing it, is very well mapped out.
The Culture
Last thursday of every month there is a company party on the top floor that is themed and a free bar. Also, every quarter or so we would have a marketing nightr out, where we would hire out a part of or the whole of a pub and have free food and drink all night. On top of this we have an intern committee where we would organise events for interns to take part in.
As you wouold expect, living in London is pretty expensive. But if you are smart about how you spend your money then you will be fine. I managed to go out most weekends and still have enough money for general living.
In Hammersmith you are never more than 20 minutes away froma decent bar or club. The HQ is right next to 2 tube stations and a big bus station so you can literally get to anywhere you want from work.
There are sports teams at work. The intern committee set up intern sports teams.
