  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Overall, I enjoyed it very much. It was hard work but it was also a lot of fun.

  • All colleagues made me feel welcome at all times. People were always friendly and helpful.

  • Guidance was given when necessary. There was a good structure for measuring your general progression but you were expected to use your initiative and common sense a lot of the time.

  • Varied from day to day. Working hours could be quite long.

  • Given a very good amount of responsibility right from the beginning, despite being from a very different academic background and knowing little about accountancy.

  • Great insight into working for a large company.

  • Was very rarely in the actual office but the atmosphere within the various teams was always great.

  • Very well organised- great induction. Good personal development management (assigned a counsellor and a buddy).

  • Very informative 3 day induction focused on the company and service lines.

  • Received a graduate job offer - was also able to change location of job offer.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Great social scene with both other interns and general colleagues. Had a social budget that the interns used for drinks several times. Pizza making, bowling etc. was also organised for us, as was an end of internship ball. Went for after-work drinks with other colleagues too.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Fairly average- moved locations a couple of times so it varied. Travel expenses are reimbursed however.

  • Great variety of bars in Birmingham.

  • Several sports clubs and social networks (eg. Women's society).
