The Role
I found the work on my placement varied. At times I was comfortable with my workload, but other, I was stretched and found it very challenging. The great thing about EY though, was that there was always someone willing to help you. On a side note, some of the work was quite dull, however, the whole experience of understanding a company and working closely with clients is particularly rewarding.
I always felt extremely valued by the people and teams I worked with. Often, if I did some work for an executive, when they email this to a manager or partner, they would CC me and mention the work I did in the email. This was extremely rewarding and made me feel like a valued member of the firm.
There was also a 2nd year graduate who had done what I was doing the previous year and was willing to provide help. Beyond this, I found that execs, managers and even directors were willing to sit down and talk me through something if I didn't understand.
It went up and down. In busy season I was very very busy and working long hours. However, sometimes when I was unassigned, I didn't have much work on. However, for around 70% of the year I would say I had a good balance of work on throughout the day.
I was extremely impressed with how much responsibility I was given on my placement. I had heard stories at other firms of how you become the coffee boy, but that couldn't be further away from my experience at EY. At the start I was tutored and taught the ropes of the profession. However, by the end of my placement I was taking on entire projects without assistance, and because of my excellent tutelage, I felt comfortable doing this!
I received an amazing amount of experience on the job whilst at EY. My role has helped me develop my communication skills, team skills, confidence, business knowledge, technical knowledge and more. Moreover, I was also provided amazing training opportunities whilst at EY, including TRACOM learning. This gave me a fantastic insight into not only my own personality, but also how I can adjust my behaviour around other's with different personalities to come across as best as possible.
The Company
I was predominantly working in teams, and rarely in the office. I had good fun in my teams, often exchanging jokes and stories. I have made good friends with them and look forward to seeing them in the future.
Extremely well. From day one I felt that EY knew what they were doing with my placement. We had an introductory week as well as many training days. At no point during the internship did I feel lost because I didn't have someone to ask a question to.
100% yes. Not only through training but also through senior members of staff taking an interest in my personal development. My counsellor was extremely supportive and I felt like the firm wanted me to succeed.

I received a job from EY at the end of the year which I am delighted with.
The Culture
Yes. It wasn't as frequent as university, but we regularly went to the pub etc. We also regularly met up with each other at lunch. Along with this, during draining days, EY would always organise a social for us in the evening.
London is very expensive place to live and go out in so it was quite expensive.
London has a fantastic range of bars and clubs in the city.
Yes. I went on 3 campus recruitment days which were really enjoyable. I also was part of a CSR day with all the other IPs which was a fantastic day of fun.
