    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyed my internship, everyone was friendly and I enjoyed the work. There wasn't quite enough to do at the beginning but once I proved that I was competent I was given plenty to do and thoroughly enjoyed it. Will definitely be applying for the graduate scheme.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt I was valued and that they appreciated the work I was doing. It took longer than hoped to get to know them simply because I was sat at a desk on my own with my back to them but this couln't really be helped as that's where the spare seat was, but once I had settled in they were friendly and I enjoyed their company, going for drinks with them on several occasions.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Guidance and support was good. We had mid-placement interviews and final reviews. My team gave me work to do and told me exactly what it was they wanted me to do and they were always approachable if I needed help. If we needed any other questions answering the person in charge of graduate HR would always help.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The work tended to be slightly sporadic. Overall the balance was okay but there were days when there was nothing for me to do and days where everyone in the team had work they wanted me to do at quite short notice but I understand that that's what the world of work is like and generally I was kept busy.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given quite a lot of responsibility. At first I wasn't but once I showed that I was competent I was given a lot and contributed directly to reports that went to clients and were important. My manager commented how much experience he had given me as he was pleased with my work.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • They will assist enormously since I am very keen to pursue a career in property and am currently studying for the final year of a RICS accredited course.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was good, I enjoyed working in an open plan office.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised, we always knew where we should be and what we should be doing and outlook was used effectively.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • It was hands on, learning on the job experience rather than training but this was good as this is what the world of work is like in reality. We could perhaps have done with a little more training at the beginning as all the interns came from very different backgrounds degree-wise and experience-wise so it was assumed that we knew some things that not all of us did.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would very much like a job with the company and my feedback was very positive but it is extremely competitive with thousands of applicants for very few places.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Really good, we all got on well and there were things organised both through the company and by ourselves.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very expensive.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good but expensive.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Some socail events and a hockey match and I imagine even more if you were a full time employee.

    4/5
