The Role
I was given plenty of induction training, as well as being involved in many different projects working with a variety of people.
Everyone was very welcoming and extremely helpful, making me feel part of the team.
I was given a "Buddy" who was very friendly and I felt like I could approach her with any question I had not matter how silly they seemed. I was also assigned a counselor who frequently checked on me to ensure I was getting on fine, we also had meetings to discuss my progress and goals for the internship. The teams I worked with provided great support and guidance, giving as much help as possible.
I worked 9am-5pm every day, working on a variety of tasks. If I found had finished one earlier than the deadline then if I spoke to someone they found me something to do immediately - I never had no work to do.
I was given as much responsibility as possible for an actuarial intern, with although may not be as much as other interns, I was given the opportunity to shadow partners and meet directors which was an invaluable experience.
In particular the report writing and computer programming skills I learn whilst at EY have not only helped me when working on group projects at university, but I also believe that I will benefit when studying my MSc
The Company
The atmosphere within the office was not at all like I expected. The office was open plan with no assigned desks so each day you would be sitting next to someone new and would frequently see partners busying away at their work! Everyone was very relaxed and friendly, yet still worked very hard. They also organised plenty social activities within the department which were great fun!
The internship was well organised, the induction days were a great way to meet the other interns and learn more about EY.

The future employment prospects within EY are very appealing, they are a very people focused company and create an amazing working environment. They also emphasise how much they will help you develop to the position you want to reach.
The Culture
Living and socialising in London is obviously expensive, as is the travel! Certainly a different experience.
There was the opportunity to join in with sporting activities such as running, football and rubgy
