The Role
Gained a lot of experience over the eight week period, and a real insight into the working life of an Auditor.
I felt very valued by colleagues and was given responsibility from the onset. Feedback and appreciation of work done was shown throughout the placement. Colleagues were happy to take time out to explain processes and how the tasks I did contributed to the entire audit process.
I had a dedicated mentor and manager who were very efficient and quick to respond to any queries I had.
I was never short of tasks to do, although there were a few quiet days in the office. There was a good work balance while at client sites, with some longer working days.
I was given a lot of responsibility during the placement, involving sections of the audit to work on myself. These included cash, fixed assets, trade payables and receivables, and share capital. The work I carried out was reviewed by a Manager and review points given. I embraced the responsibility and never felt out of my depth with any task given.
The skills I developed do not directly assist with my Mathematics, however, business skills I acquired will help me with my Business Management modules, as well as giving me a general business grounding and understanding. The experience I have gained has given me a great start to a career in Audit.
The Company

The Culture
There's never a time when you're short of something to do in Birmingham. Many socials and special occasion events in the office, as well as socials organised between the interns themselves.
Living in Birmingham I'd say that it is reasonably priced. As with any other big city, you'll find there's a variety of places to go that suit your budget. Whether it's a quite drink or a big night out, there's something to suit all.
CSR days and social events during the eight week placement.
