The Role
Great 3 months. Everyone was very friendly and I was given a lot of help and guidance from day 1. I was given a project to work on during my internship and this was really interesting and greatly improved my understanding of the oil and gas industry.
The team I worked in were great. From helping me with any questions I had to going for lunch with them they were always welcoming at every stage. They understood my level of experience and so they always ensured I had the material I needed to better my understanding.
I was helped every step of the way. As it was an assessed internship there were several reviews and tasks that had to be done before the end and my supervisors always ensured I was prepared for these events and knew what was happening. They were also very helpful with the day to day management of my project.
I always had something to do. The workload was a perfect balance as there was always a job to do but there wasn't so much that I couldn't get through it all in one day.
I was in charge of my own project which meant I had to plan and research everything. There was a great amount of responsibility as I had to chose what tasks needed to be done and what information I required. If tasks weren't done then this would be something I had to deal with as there wasn't anyone else to do my work for me.
I hugely improved every aspect of my professional life as well as the way I now work for university. The internship allowed me to greatly expand my knowledge of the oil and gas industry and the processes it uses which has helped a lot during my final year. I am now able to use a computer software to a professional level. The internship also helped greatly with my time management and presentation skills plus it also helped a lot with my confidence.
The Company
The office was busy but everyone was very friendly. If I had questions to ask I always felt welcome to walk over to someones desk and ask them. There was also always time for a quick coffee break!
Well organised and followed a formula that obviously worked. From day 1 everything was set up for me to start work the same again for leaving at the end.
There wasn't specific training courses I could attend but there was always a chance to increase my development through lunchtime learning seminars and intern events.

Great. The assessed internship means that at the end of the placement you could be offered a graduate placement within the company for after your final year. This graduate placement could be anywhere in the world.
The Culture
There is a great network for the graduates and interns which was very active. I attended a lot of events outside of work and I made a lot of friends by doing this.
The cost of living/socialising was very similar to where I currently live and wasn't too expensive
Great nightlife. Aberdeen is full of great bars and clubs and there was something for everyone
As well as a graduate/intern network there was also an annual sports event which I took part in which was great. The annual dinner dance was also a highlight as the tickets were free and included a 3 course meal and drinks!
