    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Working at Mars/ Wrigley was an amazing experience and has opened my eyes to an industry I didn't fully consider when thinking of possible employment following graduation. Now thanks to this internship I have found the area I wish to work in.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt extremely welcome and respected by everyone I came into contact with, I also was made to feel like a valued full time mature member of the team rather than an intern with little experience in the field.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had weekly one to one meetings with my supervisor as well as regular contact through team meetings. My supervisor also made time for me if I was having any issues and I felt like there was always support there is needed by all team members.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was never a dull day with multiple projects on the go allowing me to always be working on something with the ability to switch between projects.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Within the first week I was producing work that was being used as part of a research week which made me feel involved from the get go. I was given freedom to work in the manner I wanted which shows a great level of trust and responsibility.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt specialist techniques that I am already implementing at University and these will be skills I carry through to future positions. I also learnt a great deal about how large companies function on both a global and local scale which was very interesting.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a great balance of working and socialising with the ability to bounce ideas off one another. The office space was also very creative with different work spaces available.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I was the first industrial design intern at the Oral Care Growth Centre and I could honestly say it was if they had had many before me due to the structure of the internship being seamless.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As well as personal development training in the initial induction I also received a mid term review where my strengths and areas for improvement were assessed and advice given on moving forward. At the end of the placement I had another review where they were assessed again and advice given for future development while at University.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The area was more expensive to live in than I am used to but the wage I was getting was representative which was good.
