The Role
The work was really interesting and it felt important, rather than merely to keep you occupied. A really useful way of finding out whether the firm would be suitable for you and whether you would be suitable for the firm. Everyone was very friendly, even when they weren't working in the same department. The appraisal system was a really useful measure of how well you were doing.
As stated above, the work wasn't given to you for the sake of it, you really felt like a member of the team as a whole. A lot of thought was put into varying the types of work you were given. I felt as though I was being treated as a future trainee rather than a vac schemer.
The grad recruitment team were all very approachable and so you never felt totally overwhelmed as they were always on hand. Appraisals at the end of both weeks were really useful to give you a gauge of how well you were doing or what needed improvement.
Was always busy, but was never staying ridiculously late - I never felt overwhelmed. There was also a good mix of work, from work within your department as well as talks from other departments so you were never bored.
As stated above, I felt like I was doing useful and valued work. This was helped by the continual feedback from supervisors as well as work from a number of other people within the department.
Have already used a lot of the skills during the LPC, and am sure they will continue to be useful when I get into practice.
The Company
Everyone was approachable, friendly and always willing to help. There were also a number of extra curricular activities such as pro bono, softball and football which you were actively encouraged to participate in.
There was always something to be getting on with, and I never felt at a loose end.
As stated above, I felt like I was treated like a future trainee.
The Culture
There were a number of social activities organised. This, coupled with the department sessions and team exercises helped the group to bond quickly.
I was commuting from home, but London is notoriously expensive. Don't think this is a negative for the firm though.
Pro bono, softball, football and a number of drinks and social activities including a visit to the Comedy Store.
