    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The work was really interesting and it felt important, rather than merely to keep you occupied. A really useful way of finding out whether the firm would be suitable for you and whether you would be suitable for the firm. Everyone was very friendly, even when they weren't working in the same department. The appraisal system was a really useful measure of how well you were doing.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As stated above, the work wasn't given to you for the sake of it, you really felt like a member of the team as a whole. A lot of thought was put into varying the types of work you were given. I felt as though I was being treated as a future trainee rather than a vac schemer.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The grad recruitment team were all very approachable and so you never felt totally overwhelmed as they were always on hand. Appraisals at the end of both weeks were really useful to give you a gauge of how well you were doing or what needed improvement.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Was always busy, but was never staying ridiculously late - I never felt overwhelmed. There was also a good mix of work, from work within your department as well as talks from other departments so you were never bored.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As stated above, I felt like I was doing useful and valued work. This was helped by the continual feedback from supervisors as well as work from a number of other people within the department.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Have already used a lot of the skills during the LPC, and am sure they will continue to be useful when I get into practice.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was approachable, friendly and always willing to help. There were also a number of extra curricular activities such as pro bono, softball and football which you were actively encouraged to participate in.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There was always something to be getting on with, and I never felt at a loose end.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As stated above, I felt like I was treated like a future trainee.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • 5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were a number of social activities organised. This, coupled with the department sessions and team exercises helped the group to bond quickly.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was commuting from home, but London is notoriously expensive. Don't think this is a negative for the firm though.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Pro bono, softball, football and a number of drinks and social activities including a visit to the Comedy Store.

    5/5
