The Role
I really enjoyed my internship within the Consumer Insight team at CRUK. From Day One, I was give real responsibility and tasks to do and great support along the way.
Throughout the organisation, interns are made to feel valued and an important part of the charity.
I was given lots of support from my team with weekly 1:1s and catch ups whenever required. Rachael, who looks after all the interns, also arranged things like CV and interview training workshops which were really useful in planning and preparing for future career opportunities.
Good balance - pretty busy but not crazily so.
Lots of responsibility - able to run own projects with help from team members.
My CRUK internship (my first!) was extremely helpful to me. I developed key research skills and experience of the charity, as well as developing more general workplace skills. I was able to put into practice skills from my degree in Psychology and have develop a real interest for and passion in Consumer Insight as a career path.
The Company
Really good atmosphere. Very smart and talented people to work with but also quite an informal and welcoming environment.
Well organised. There were key points along the way to reflect about development and mid-placement CV/Interview training workshop was really helpful.
Invested in terms of time and resource - weekly 1:1s, internal training sessions. Allowed us to learn new softwares.
Very appealing. I stayed on within the Consumer Insight team and am very happy with my current role.
The Culture
Yes! It's really nice having a group of people in the same situation as you (there were about 30 interns in my intake) and makes the learning curve of starting a new job/role much easier and enjoyable.
It's obviously (and quite unavoidably) really expensive in London.
Really good. Lots of pubs and bars and restaurants.
Yes, lots of opportunities to be involved in fundraising and encouraged to organise own activities.
