The Role
I loved it so much I am still working at Virgin during my final year! Virgin Media is a great placement organisation because you actually get involved with real tasks which impact the company, so you get the experience which will make you stand out for graduate employment.
Although, I wasn't based with the majority of my team I still felt like I was very much part of it. With frequent video and phone calls it didn't feel as though we were a national team, but one sitting right next to each other.
My manager was absolutely ace! He helped me to look at things in different ways to ensure I was getting the best possible results. He was, hands down, the best manager I have ever had!
I think in my whole placement year my first month I wasn't very busy as I was finding my feet, however after I showed my manager what my skills and strengths were there was not a spare minute in the day. This helped me to really brush up on my understanding the organisation and the industry in a relatively short space of time.
I was the lead in two major projects, so I was given quite a bit of responsibility! If you show willing you will be provided with more high-profile tasks.
My role as an analyst at Virgin has helped me no-end in my degree. I am now able to critically evaluate with ease as this was the main aspect of my job, whereas before my placement I found this quite difficult.
The Company
I was based in an office where there was a call centre also so there was constantly theme days, such as "wear your P.J's to work" and we some times get handed out sweets for no reason at all!
Our induction was set up well and it was a great way of getting to know the other interns.
Every skill which I wanted to increase I have been given the opportunity to do so!

Working from home
Very! I am currently employed at Virgin part-time whilst I finish my degree as I loved working here so much I didn't want to leave! I also have an interview for one of the Grad scheme's coming up too.
The Culture
I think now this has increased as there is more Interns and the majority of which are based at the Head office.
I relocated to my home town as I was commuting for 3 hours each day, so fairly cheap.
Great!
Virgin offer their employees chance to work with a charitable orgaisation for a day, this was a great day as all of the intern's managed go together! Also, in the call centre environment where I worked there was events and team days regulary throughout the year. There was also a chance to win a pair of V Festival tickets too!
