The Role
the placement was very enjoyable with a large variety of work
I was treated as a fully fledged member of the team with the same job roles as everyone else
I was given all the supervision and guidance I required throughout the year on any issues I had.
The work varied greatly depending on issues found at that time. Some days I was rushed off my feet, others I had very little to do at all.
I was given exactly the same amount of reasonability as every other member of the team, there was no differentiation between lab members and me as a student.
I developed my soft skills such as planning and delegation greatly, along with skills such as SEM skills, hardness testing and report writing.
The Company
The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming with a good mixture of work and social time.
The organisation was great and ran very smoothly from start to finish.
The company runs internal; classes and these proved very useful in aiding me over the course of the year.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Above 25 days holiday
There are such a wide range of positions within the one site and so globally there are literally thousands of opportunities.
The Culture
The placement students regularly socialised with one another via a facebook group.
I lived at home which was over an hour from work and so the cost of living for me was relatively cheap.
Due to living so far from work I never had chance to experience the local nightlife.
During my time at cummins I participated in both football and the cricket club which both had a good social aspect to them.
