    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Discover EY was a really great opportunity to meet other like-minded students and get a head-start at the firm. The programme was jam-packed and really enjoyable, and all the employees who delivered presentations or activities were passionate and interesting. Overall, it was a really enjoyable experience, especially as all the participants were encouraged to socialise over dinner in the evening as well, meaning that by the second day we all felt like part of a team.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The firm made a huge effort to accommodate us all and made sure we had chance to network with EY employees of all levels throughout the day, all of whom seemed genuinely interested in giving us information and insight into their experiences. This made me feel really welcome.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Every activity and presentation was introduced and explained really clearly, and there were members of the recruitment team working with each group of students to ensure we all got the most out of the experience.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I leant a lot about the firm and the industry in general, which will be really useful as I start to look for graduate positions. I developed my presentation and team-work skills, which are both competencies I can carry with me throughout my studies and into the workplace. It was especially useful to be given so much information about different service lines, as this aided me when choosing which line to apply for an internship in.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Both days were very well structured, meaning we were always busy but had plenty of breaks to process information and grab some refreshments! I felt like the programme covered all the essential information that I wanted and more.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The firm and it's employees made us feel very welcome, and everyone was very friendly. We were kept busy, but none of the presentations were boring - everyone wanted to be there so the atmosphere was really positive, with plenty of questions being asked! Overall I felt really positive, and was really looking forward to going back for the second day!

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The second day was devoted to us developing skills that we would use day to day if we worked at the firm, which was a really useful exercise. I felt that I learnt a lot.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The activities were geared towards us experiencing what working at the firm would be like, and how we would have to interact with clients should we be working at EY. The presentations gave us the personal experiences of employees, which was really useful.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Because we spent two days in the busy London office, we did get a feel for the atmosphere and ethos of the company. We were also taken on a short office tour, which was really interesting. Just talking to partners and other employees helped me to understand the general culture of the firm.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The insight programme gave me so much information about a career at EY, so I was able to go home and think over what I had learnt and assess whether it was the right choice for me. We were also given loads of information about the recruitment process and the training that we would have to undergo, so I feel fully aware of the commitment that I would be required to make should I choose this career path.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • We were reimbursed travel expenses, and the firm offered to pay for accommodation in London for the evening if you could not find your own.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We were able to network with employees over lunch on both days, and the firm organised a networking dinner in the evening, when employees of all levels came to dinner with the participants and chatted in a more casual setting, which was a really good way of finding out personal experiences of the firm, and getting advice from people who had already been through the graduate recruitment process.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They were really fun and useful - a good mix of casual and more formal networking. The employees from the firm made a real effort to make us feel comfortable and to make it easy for us to ask them questions.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We were given some information about the networks and opportunities that EY offers, and during the networking dinner the members of the firm were keen to tell us about life outside of working hours - it was good to get a different perspective, rather than just thinking about the day to day work that we would be doing.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Definitely - it was a really useful experience, and has helped me make more informed decisions.
