The Role
I really enjoyed the placement - I was given responsibility and support when I needed it. It was really prepared me for final year of university and beyond.
I was instantly part of the team and was entrusted with things very quickly.
I was receieved constant support and I knew that all of my team were there to help me, not just my supervisor.
Some days were less busy than others, but that depended on the experiments and that is science.
I was given my own project, and it was up to me to coordinate between the different groups and bring all the work together. As well present my results bi-weekly to the team.
This has been an invaluable experience - I can now literature search better, am more efficient and the laboratory and generally more confident in the workplace.
The Company
Really good - although there were a lot of job cuts coming in the office due to the move to Cambridge but no one let that impact my placement.
Extremely well organised - at no point did I not know what I was doing or who I was to speak to
They spent a lot of time teaching me new skills in the laboratory, as well as presenting skills.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
I will definitely be applying for the graduate scheme at AZ
The Culture
Definitely - and this was actively encouraged by the company
It wasn't too expensive - though I lived at home and so saved money that way.
Not very good! But there was a big group of us so was always fun!
I joined the gym and attended regularly.
