The Role
Real tasks with real rewards which are vital to the company.
Excellent support by my manager which suited my style of working.
At no point did I feel like a placement student, you're expected to do the work of a full time employee but get treated like one in return.
The Company
Could be quiet at times but the office is designed to be open plan, friendly and chatty.
Its been running for years and is clearly well practiced.
A number of opportunities for general training with Microsoft Office packages plus training was arranged for specific programs when required.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
A number of long term employees who have moved through the ranks but is perhaps a bit too systematic in expectations around career development.
The Culture
There is a social club for the organisation which is excellently run and puts on a number of events. There is a great opportunity to be sociable with other placement students (there are about 20) but this obviously depends on people organising it!
Being Surrey it was quite expensive, particularly rent, but the salary covered it for me.
Local towns are very limited but London and bigger towns are accessible.
There are sports events (bike rides, 5 a side football and tour) and a social event every couple of months.
