The Role
I was given a challenging and interesting project, which I really enjoyed. I very much enjoyed working at Shell as the people were all really friendly, and there were plenty of social events for interns and gradutes.
By the end of the internship, I felt like my work was really valued by the team.
Throughout my internship, my supervisor was always ready to help me out when necessary and guide me in the right direction. I got regular feedback on my performance which helped me to improve.
I could msotly structure my time myself, so I was able to work at the right pace for me.
My work was important to the current goals of the team, and I was trusted to produce relevant and accurate work with reliable findings.
I learnt a great deal about the industry and the company, but also developed skills - such as communication and presentation - which I will be able to take forward in many other areas.
The Company
People were generally busy, but seemed content with their work. It was a friendly environment, and people were always open to talk to.
The placement itself was well organised, although the recruitment process was rather slow and not particularly clear. The internship itself had milestones and a structured format, and clear guidance was given as to how to succeed.
I was given training that I needed, and felt like my supervisor and mentor tried their best to make sure I had the support I needed.

Very appealing graduate package, with plenty of room to decide on your career route.
The Culture
Most of the interns lived in student halls together, and as well as events organised for us by the Shell Graduate Network, we did plenty of socialising together.
Rent was expensive, but socialising was generally pretty reasonable.
The nightlife in Aberdeen was good - fairly cheap and really good fun! There's lots of nice bars, and a decent number of clubs for the size of the town.
Plenty of scope to get involved with e.g. sports teams with work colleagues. Opportunities to represent the company in inter-company sports events.
