    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Had a great year on placement, and felt valued as a member of my team, and a member of the company as a whole.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Brilliant atmosphere to work in, and even as a placement student you are made to feel important, and that your day to day work really matters!

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had great support from other placement students, right up to the directors of the company. If I ever needed to chat, or talk through problems there was always someone on hand to help.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The work at Golfbreaks is seasonal, but there was always something to do, or someone to help. If you're someone that likes to get involved then this is perfect. Each department has it's busy periods and if you're known as a hardworker you will probably be asked to help out, and gain more experiance to add to your CV.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • In my leaving card, my manager mentioned that I was the only placement student at Golfbreaks to ever run their own department - It was only temporary, and right towards the end of my placement, but I felt that I had achieved a lot during my year, and that had been noticed.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Having a year's industrial placement enabled me to see a bit of the real world. Up until that point I had not had a long term full time job, and had more than enjoyed time at uni, so it was a good break to ready myself for my final year, and beyond!

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was a real "work hard, play hard" atmosphere. There was always someone to have a laugh and a joke with, but when people needed to get their heads down and work this was done.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Golfbreaks.com employ a number of placement students every year, and have been doing so since the company was started. This means that they know how to help you get the most out of your placement year.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Golfbreaks may not be a large company able to spend a lot of money on training courses etc, but as far as investing time and effort into their placement students, I could not fault this. The more you put into the company, the more you will inevitably get out.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    International Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I stayed in contact with one of the Directors at the company during my final year, and was lucky enough to be offered a job back at Golfbreaks after finishing my degree.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The friends I met on my placement year are still good friends now. As there are around 15 - 20 placement students at the company it meant that there was always someone up for going out after work or at the weekends.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The company was in Chiswick while I worked on my placement year, which was expensive in parts, but good fun as you were near to London nightlife. They are now based in Windsor which is very similar - if you know where to go - and someone always does - you can find good value accomodation etc.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Same as in 13. - Some good places to go.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The boys at the company play 5 a side football each week, and there are a lot of lunches, and incentives going on. Also if the company target is hit each year, there is a company trip away - during my placement we went over to Scotland for a long weekend which was really good fun.

    4/5
