The Role
Very enjoyable experience. Highly challenging and very interesting.
Very highly valued by everyone who I met during my time with Shell. Anyone I spoke to was always more than happy to take time out of their day to help me.
You are given as much support as you want. The project is your own, therefore, in some ways it is up to you to ask for more/less guidance. I really liked the balance which I had.
Always had things to do. Whether it was project related, meeting new people or site visits.
You are completely in charge of your project, which allows you to take it down whatever avenue you decide is best. I felt it gave me a very good idea of what a graduates role would be
Learnt so much during my time at Shell - new software, gained confidence in presenting technical information to project stakeholders along with increasing my knowledge of the oil and gas sector. From an industrial safety point of view, this internship was very beneficial as it illustrated the real dangers which could exist within this field of work.
The Company
I really enjoyed every day's work. Atmosphere was very relaxed and easy to work within.
Very well organised. Lots of opportunities for you to increase your knowledge on both Shell as a company and also from a more technical point of view.
Shell heavily invests in their interns - lots of training, networking events & opportunities for further learning.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Financial Bonus
Very appealing. If you are successful in your accessed internship, Shell tries its best to offer you a job in your preferred role and location.
The Culture
Really good from a social point of view, everyone was very friendly and got involved with lots of events such as the Summer ceilidh, 5a-side football, weekend dinners & drinks etc.
Aberdeen is quite an expensive place to be living
Good nightlife, lots happening at weekends
Every day there was endless opportunities to play sports and other activities
