    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • As this placement was in a sales role it was very fast paced and you need to be able to think on your feet. you get given a vast amount of responsibility which on the first day is a bit shocking it soons settles in and you get on with the variety of tasks set. Having all this responsibility really helped in creating a variety of workload and being able to have your say and be a part of many different business activities.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • There was a real sense of community and friendship between all of the employees. Even up to the Director, we all shared common interests and they never made you feel small or inferior. When jobs needed to be done they would ensure a professional manner to get the right results however they new that creating the personal relationships with students really would pay dividends in work effort.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There was always someone on hand to offer advise or help you. They did try to make sure that you used the correct resources instead of coming to the wrong people first however hardly anyone would turn away without offering advise.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were patches where I was very busy, however I understood that this came with the nature of the Sales. I had to get fast accurate results out to my colleagues otherwise we would have lost deals and no one would of been happy.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • At one point the Senior account manager had 2 weeks off due to his wife having a baby. Myself and another Director took over the workload. The Director dealing with high level matters and me taking on the day to day runnings of the accounts. This was great and I loved having control and making a real difference.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Fujitsu launched a new concept called Zero client, this is entering into the Could computing idea. I asked for additional training on this to be able to speak to clients in depth instead of getting a tech guy in. This really has helped so much now that I am basing my dissertation on cloud computing.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Due to Fujitsu hiring 15 students in my sector of the business there was a real sense of fun in the office. The managers were laid back and realised that we weren't going to ne productive if we just stuck our head into the computer. They actively encouraged us to join the company football team and for social nights out. Also the company nights out sponsored by the company were a great experience.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The majority was set up fine, we integrated into Fujitsu Services, which are a larger part of Fujitsu by far and they had a very resourceful HR department who dealt with the placement students and were always there for help.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company had a training scheme in the first week to get you up to speed and also had refresher courses through the placement to make sure that it had all sunk in.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Healthcare/Dental

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • If you are on the Fujitsu Services placement they basically guarranteee a job afterwards. However as we were a seperate unit until the last few months we get fast tracked through the initial stages but still require interviews and assessments.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As I have said previously there were 15 students in our sector, We had a great year having a house together and socialing in terms of company football and nights out/birthday events.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Accomodation is average to most uni prices and if you live with other students your travel costs are split between the house!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I worked in Bracknell and lived in Reading. Reading had enough good shops and bars however Bracknell was only a place to work, no nightlife which was fine.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was a football team as discussed previously other than that there was not much.
