The Role
I especially like UBS for its diverse and supportive company culture, encouraging employees to have fun with art funding, networking, volunteering in community, etc.
My colleagues, especially my direct supervisor, always make sure that my work is recognized and keep me updated on the progress of the projects other people are working on.
Everyone is happy to answer my questions and I can call a colleague in other teams to ask about their work. It's very cool. My supervisors are always very patient with my questions and make sure that I understand the whole story of the bits I'm doing.
Working in Risk as a greenhand is not busy on my side, but there're always some tasks to do or to learn on my to do list, so I can neither get bored.
The responsibility is not as much as I expected, but I do feel it is a keep-learning process and takes long to understand the whole system.
UBS has lots of online trainings and a couple of in class training. My colleagues supported me and encouraged me to attend those trainings, not only for the knowledge, but also for meeting with people.
The Company
Lively. There're funny jokes and sweet treats. At some point, I see people walking around the office to facilitate their thinking; and very often, I hear people talking or arguing on various topics, whether work-related or pure hobbies out of work.
I feel fully respected and valued in the whole set up. Till now, I attended 3 speaker-series, 2 Lunch with Leader. These communication and learning opportunities let me know more about the senior managers' career stories and more about the whole operation of the company.
For a one year program, it's more about learning by doing and side by side training.
I'll definitely take the offer if I were given a chance to stay within this organization. UBS not only attracts me for its professionalism and reputation in this industry, but more importantly, also for its humanistic care to its employees. For example, in the first week of my placement, I watched my colleagues playing the lively internal sports game on the Finsbury Square; last month, I received the Art Pass and used it watching exhibitions in museums.
The Culture
I attended volunteer activities organized by the company. We also have intern lunch for a couple of times.
London, central London.
Streets of bars.
I have lots of fun exploring the museums/exhibitions/theaters at weekends with my friends.
