The Role
I really enjoyed working for UBS: I found an extremely challenging but at the same time pleasant working environment, where people were really happy to dedicate some of their time to the personal growth of the interns. Expectations were more than exceeded.
As already mentioned, on the Trading Floor (where I spent the entire 9 weeks) you could really feel the importance given by the staff to the internship program and so to the interns themselves. Everyone was always available to help and contribute to the learning process of all the interns.
During the three rotations I did, I always found line managers available to explain everything that I did not know . When I was given a task and I needed the help of other employees to complete it, I always found people ready to give me whatever I needed to do my job.
I was given tasks on a regular basis and in some moments, when I had to complete more than one job at the same time, I've been really busy; but what UBS really wanted from us was to spend as much time as we could with more experienced colleagues, trying to fully understand their job and all the mechanisms that characterize the trading floor on a daily basis. The end of the day, when markets were closed and people were more relaxed, that was the ideal time to ask questions and spend time to learn as much as possible.
On the trading floor it's quite difficult to give a lot responsibilities to interns, but this is because of the nature of the business itself. However, we were given tasks that we could perceived how they were really important for our colleagues.
The experience I had has been fundamental both from a personal and a learning point of view. On one hand the fact that you have to deal with so many different people and cultures and you have to adapt your approach to all these differences is fundamental for the personal growth. On the other hand, spending so much time with experienced colleagues and trying to ask as many questions as possible is the best way to improve your personal skills and to fully understand what the real world of business is.
The Company
In some areas it was more boring, in other more exciting, but overall it was really good.
The organisation of all the internship activities was extremely good and well balanced,
We spent the first entire week of the programme doing different trainings to be prepared, but overall it was a 9-week learning process.

I have not received a job offer, but I hope the good relationships I had with my colleagues and all the efforts I regularly did to be as useful as possible can help me if in the near future there are new open positions within UBS.
The Culture
Very good, and all the social events that took place during the 9 weeks really helped to create a good atmosphere between colleagues.
As in the entire London very expensive.
Very good as in the entire London.
I really do not know since I did not particularly worried about that,
