    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was great, I really enjoyed my 6 months in UBS. I learned so much it's hard to believe, plus I got a graduate job offer at the end.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very valued. I was occasionally working on projects directly for managing directors, and they really appreciated the quality of my work.

  • I had a tough but great manager, which pushed me to be proactive and embrace opportunities. She was supportive all the way.

  • It varied throughout the 6 months, however overall it was a good balance.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I had to gain trust from my colleagues first, but after that I was given a lot of responsibility.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learned so much under every aspect. It was truly a life lesson.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was very nice. Even though there were a lot of very senior people around, everyone was very friendly and always up for a chat.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It lacked structure, mainly because you were expected to be proactive and find things for yourself. It was frustrating at the start, but looking backwards it was an interesting experience.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Since it was only six months I didn't receive any formal training, however I was allowed to sit with different desks to learn about their job.

  • I successfully secured a spot in the graduate training program

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It was alright, always very informal. People would often go for a drink on thursday or friday, and occasional leaving drinks.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is London, so it was quite expensive but nothing unexpected

  • There is so much to do in London!

  • Maybe, however I chose to spend my free time with friends.
