    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my placement at Mondelez so far. It has been well organised and I always have lots to do - never a dull moment!

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I do feel valued by my colleagues as I am doing parts of projects that they are working on too. My contribution may be a lot smaller than theirs but I feel as though they appreciate that I have only just started and that I am trying my best to learn on the job.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • To begin with I was given a lot of guidance and support but now I am left to find out the answers for myself which I think is the best way as otherwise you are always relying on other people to find things out for you.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • To begin with, I wasn't particularly busy which was a bit understimulating. After a month or so I begun to get fully involved with the projects I was working on and now I am really busy which is good as time flies!

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I feel I have been given a lot of responsibility as I am writing my own documents for suppliers. This gives me a sense of pride in my work as I know that what I am doing is benefitting the company as well as my own development.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As an intern, I do presentations to the leadership team to give regular progress updates. These can be quite scary but a great experience to have. You can also see the progression from giving the first presentation to the last. This will definitely be an invaluable skill that I have improved from working here at Mondelez and useful to me in my degree when I go back to university.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office is pretty quiet as people have a lot to do currently and so everyone is hard at work. However, the office is a place for doing work and so being quiet helps me to think and get on with my own work effectively.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was extremely well set up. In my first week there was an induction week which gave a good overiew of the company. Then, in the first month I was told to set up meetings with everyone in the office to have brief introductions and this really helped as I got to know everyone nice and quickly.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given Integrated Lean Six Sigma training which costs the company quite a lot of money. However, they obviously thought that it was worth investing the time and effort to enhance our skills as then we coudl begin Lean Six Sigma green belt projects which would in the end benefit the company and be a great experience for us as interns.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    Healthcare/Dental

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment prospects are very appealing as Mondelez is such a great organisation to work for. From being an intern, there is a better chance of becoming a graduate at the company.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I lived in a house with other interns and so I knew the other placement students very well. There were also quite a few company nights out/socials and so getting to know everyone was pretty easy if you decided to participate.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living was more expensive than I was used to but that was because I went to university in a cheap area and so that was no unexpected. The cost of socialising could be very cheap as we lived in a student area which helped keep costs down.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • In the middle of Birmingham the nightlift was very "lively". Living in the student area also meant that the local area was good too.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I have joined a netball club and a running club and so I think there is lots to get involved with in the surrounding area.
