The Role
I am partway through but looking back at the months so far I can say I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far. Using many different pieces of software and helping create things that will be built one day has been exciting and a great way to learn more about my future profession.
Everyone at Arup is incredibly nice and genuine. People are always happy to help and discussions not related to work were interesting and good fun.
Fantastic advice and support. The supervisors/managers here at Arup all seemed to know what type of work would be suitable for me and how best to explain it. They also understood that I would need support so were always willing to help. On top of this, the feedback I have been receiving is superb and really helps me become better at what I do.
I wasn't pressured into staying past 5:30 but chose to do so occasionally. I wasn't overworked but as I have become more experienced (e.g. in a piece of software) my workload seems to be increasing, which I think is perfect.
I'm not at all "running the show" but I still have to give 10 stars because the level of responsibility I've been given so far is exactly what I want. My levels of responsibility started nice and low, are currently at a comfortable place, and I imagine will continue increasing at a steady rate. For example, I'm currently designing a few beams/columns whilst my supervisor is away for a couple days. He wants me to come to a meeting tomorrow morning as soon as he gets back to show a few people what I've produced. I've already contacted another supervisor when I had a couple questions and they were very helpful.
I can see myself using what I've learnt so far extensively in design projects back at university, and I look forward to doing so, too. I feel as though the people of Arup truly understand the reason I am here and respects the fact that I want to learn as much as possible. The work atmosphere is very comfortable and working here has made me decide that I definitely want to become a chartered engineer after getting my degree.
The Company
As mentioned before, very comfortable. -Plenty of social activities organised -People always happy to help
-IT and everything was set up before my first day -I am treated like a full time employee (with a degree etc.)
I feel as though many employees really don't mind sitting with me for as long as an hour just to explain some work. I feel like a valued employee.

Very appealing. The graduates all seem very happy here and have told me it's great. I will definitely try to work here after university.
The Culture
Regular events (almost every week) and as an intern I am being made to organise the christmas party along with other interns and graduates.
London isn't cheap at all. But still gets a 10 because Arup subsidises events.
Great nightlife in London.
Regular emails about loads of different types of events.
