The Role
I really enjoyed my internship. Sometimes i encountered difficulties and challenges and could struggle to move past the problem but I learnt from my perseverance and experience
I felt very valued by my colleagues. From day one i was welcomed into the team and given work. My work was always checked and I received feedback on it.
I was given a lot of support and guidance by my supervisors. They were also there if I needed help
I was not as busy as I had hoped during one day but luckily I was assigned another project very quickly.
I was given little responsibility but I expected that as I was only there for 5 weeks and all my work needed to be checked by my supervisor. I did go on a site visit with only a new graduate.
The skills I developed and the training I received have assisted me a lot in my Civil Engineering degree. I have a much better insight into an engineer's daily task now and I understand the relationship between engineers , architects and contractors.
The Company
The general atmosphere in the office was perfect. Everyone was friendly, it was quiet enough to do work. Everyone was respectful and helpful and everyone worked together
The work placement was very well organized. On the first day I received an orientation. My desk and my computer account were all set up for me. Throughout my placement my managers ensured that I was busy enough and that I was enjoying my work.
The company invested in me by letting me spend time learning a program called Revit

The Culture
There was a very good social scene amongst colleagues and also amongst placement students. We went for after work drinks several time and for lunch on fridays.
