The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship with Arup. I was able to gain a greater insight into the role that I could perform as a graduate and allowed me to focus on what I would need to do to achieve that aim.
My colleagues were excellent and I was made to feel like a member of the team from the beginning. Team lunches on a Friday were a highlight of my time there.
My supervisors were encouraging in convincing me to pursue my Masters so that I could pursue a career with the company. They helped me to understand the benefits having a masters would bring when applying for chartered engineer status.
Most of the time I had plenty of work to keep me busy and during the time when there wasn't so much to do I was able to learn more about the company by reading posts on the intranet site.
I was responsible for managing my own time and organising tasks when I had a number of things to complete.
By participating in CPD training I was able to gain an insight into the way that training would be administered.
The Company
There was a relaxed atmosphere and all the staff were very friendly and approachable at any time.
Very well, from the first day I had work to do and I was well looked after by management and HR staff
I was given training in multiple industry standard software environments which will serve me well in the future.
