The Role
After finishing the internship, I realised that equity research was not for me. However, the internship was really well structured, we had a number of teach ins where management and colleagues helped us to learn more about the roles within the bank. Definitely gave me a true insight into the role and life working in a bank
At all levels of management colleagues were approachable, helpful and gave time to the interns
Management were very supportive and helpful. I was left to be proactive in creating work for myself
Very busy, as is the nature of the job
As it was earnings season and everyone was busy with reporting I wasn't given many tasks that were directly for clients, but i was given tasks that assisted with their actual work
Learnt alot about the banks functions and especially operating in a work environment
The Company
In research it was quite quiet, people talking to clients and doing their own work. On the trading floor, the work was more team oriented
Very well structured, gave us lots to do and organised events outside of our roles in our desks.
Management were very involved in placing interns in the right roles and supporting you, also invested a lot of time to speak and work with us
Company Parties/Events
Definitely would want to work there. A good structure of interview for the grad scheme from the internship, it is obviously very competitive but if they want to hire you they seemed to have the opportunity
The Culture
Everyone was really friendly and went out together
In london so very expensive!!
Loads of pubs and bars but very expensive!
Working quite a lot so not much opportunity, although you did have weekends to relax and socialize.
