The Role
I really enjoyed my internship. It gave me a great experience to know more about oil and gas industry. Also, I worked with very friendly and helpful people who helped me make my experience worth it. Along with working on various tools that Schlumberger works on and learning from them, I had many opportunities to attend various recreational events like canoe day out, interns' day in London, team lunches to name a few.
The best part of working at Schlumberger was that I had the opportunity to work with such friendly and amazing colleagues. Right from day one, I was being treated like a family just like any other employee who has been working there for many years. Moreover, my team organised a team lunch for my farewell at the end of the internship. This shows how well Schlumberger respects its employees no matter at what level you are working in the company.
The support from my manager and every colleague was fantastic. I was guided and helped at every point I was stuck at work.
I would say, I had a perfect desk work and lab work balance. Also, I had the freedom to take small breaks and grab a cup of coffee or relax with my colleagues in between different tasks. Along with this, I had a perfect work-life balance. I had to prioritise my own work and complete it within the given deadline. That gave me an opportunity to work as per my comfort.
I was working on real projects during my internship. This gave me immense satisfaction as my work was making a difference to company's projects.
I had got an opportunity to develop and enhance various soft skills along with technical skills. I learnt how to prioritize different projects and work on them in a structured manner. This is definitely helping me in my final year as I have 8 - 10 credit units along with 40 credit final year project to complete.
The Company
People were very friendly and encouraging.
It was very well set up. My desk and system was ready before I reached on day one. My manager had planned 5 mini projects for me during the internship period.
I am more confident and presentable now because of this experience.
