The Role
Friendly staff provided a pleasant atmosphere and a helpful introduction, rather than letting me go my own way.
Despite my short time there, colleagues felt comfortable asking me for questions in the same way I asked them for help.
Provided with multiple senior members of staff who I could talk to, as well as a graduate who had recently completed the same internship programme as me.
Initially, I was given less work than I anticipated, however, this was quickly changed when my manager could see what I could cope with.
I was placed in the same development team as more experienced developers and I was allowed to contribute to an active project that was still being produced after I'd left.
Gained really useful skills that I can use for my software engineering courses at University, such as version control, dependency management and complex data structures.
The Company
The office had a very modern feel to it: open-office areas with plenty of breakout rooms where one can express ideas with colleagues. Very creative atmosphere: even had the ability to draw over the walls to help visualise your thoughts to your colleagues or manager.
Very well structured from several introductions, a number of talks to provide an insight into the company from more senior members of staff and a very nice end-of-internship event to leave an overall positive feeling. I always had someone I could talk to if I needed any help, and nobody would look down on you, no matter how senior they were.
