The Role
The internship was certainly demanding but incredibly worthwhile and in just ten weeks my knowledge of the financial markets had increased way beyond my expectations. The hours were quite tough but the fantastic people I worked with made it a great place to be.
I genuinely feel that I had a lot of input in terms of my day to day job, particularly with regards to the project work I undertook for around four weeks. My supervisor sat down with me every week to discuss my progress and took time out of his day every day to ensure that I was shadowing the best people whenever I could.
My supervisor was absolutely fantastic, a pleasure to work for and very fair. Not once did my supervisor treat me like a slave compared to the supervisors some of my friends have had at other banks and the meal he took me for on the last day was a great touch which I was extremely grateful for.
Every day I always had something to do and as an intern, I did not expect to be in a position whereby I would have to prioritise my workload. If I didn't have anything to do, my manager put me in contact with somebody who did.
During my placement I had a lot of responsibility particularly in terms of a project I carried out which would determine the security of secure locations within the bank. The client on boarding process was particularly interesting but also very important as any minor errors could lead to clients not being on boarded on time, costing money.
The ethos of hard work and drive shall certainly benefit me in my degree studies but even more so when I join next year
The Company
Very positive, everybody took time out to talk to me but it was also very serious thanks to the ambition everybody at the bank had to do well.
Very… on boarding was not too difficult and HR ensured the programme ran very smoothly
A program I used cost £17,000 for the licence fee so I certainly feel they invested in me! I was also given trips to the back office in Bournemouth which wasn't cheap and I also went to a couple of dinners.

Healthcare from home
Very, I've accepted a graduate offer!
The Culture
Most were willing to socialise but I was surprised by the number of interns who just went home after work.
Expensive, but it's London!
Perfect, staff took me out many times and we had some fantastic and memorable nights!
Yes, I played football with the traders, went for dinners and even went to play squash.
