The Role
The very friendly environment and staff gave me the chance to enjoy every day of working in Arup.
Every single piece of work I did, was directly used in the main job after being checked by senior engineers.
The support from managers was great. However in some cases they were really busy and could not assist me with my questions.
I was mostly busy on a daily basis. This includes working on the job or reading/learning about a subject to help to understand the job.
I was given great responsibilities matching my skills level and information range.
The skills I developed during my placement with Arup will help me a great deal in my future career. These skills include dealing with costumer, contractors, colleagues and delivering a work to the directors.
The Company
Very friendly and professional.
It was generally good. Everything was finished and delivered on time.
Only after a few days of working, I had the chance to talk to people from other teams. My placement team was different to my MSc subject which I am doing now.

Talking to the team managers and recruitment team, I have a big chance of getting the job with them. However I still need to apply and go through the interview process.
The Culture
The perfect social scene amongst all the colleagues and managers was one of the main reasons I enjoyed my placement the most. They are so friendly that I used to go running with my manager around the campus on lunchtime and gathering around for lunch and other social activities after work.
It was good compare to big cities like birmingham.
My working area was in a business park but there was close towns like Shirley and Solihull. I live in Birmingham which is 30 minutes driving to work.
Yes. many of it. Kayaking, Rock climbing, Slack lining, Movie night, Dinners and ...
