The Role
I enjoyed both the working environment at Barclays and my tasks as an intern. The learning curve was very steep and I learned a lot in a short period of time.
I found that the hierarchy was very flat, and even though we were interns, we could easily talk to everyone and ask as many questions as we wanted. People were very open.
We were given a clear set of objectives at the beginning of the internship, which allowed us to have clear guidance on what we should and should not do. We also had frequent catch-ups with our manager to make sure that everything was going as planned.
We were busy and had interesting work to do on a daily basis. Working hour were reasonable.
I had the chance to work directly with Directors and Managing Directors which was a great opportunity and gave me a fantastic exposure
I have finished my studies, but I have learned a lot of both professional and soft skills during this internship.
The Company
Very nice working atmosphere; people were very approachable and friendly
Everything was very clearly set up by HR and we had a clear view on our schedule, the upcoming events and activities
We had several hours of training on the different data bases and tools that we were to use during the internship (fact set, bloomberg, dealogic...°
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
I got an offer a the end of the internship
The Culture
We had many networking events to meet with people from the different areas of the bank but also to get to know the other summer interns
London is indeed an expensive city...
