The Role
I enjoyed my internship because it provided me with exposure to real life business scenarios. Additionally, the scheme has organised talks from senior people which was incredibly useful.
I felt valued by my colleagues and after a few weeks I had loads of request for help on different projects that different managers had in progress. I also attended social events to meet different managers on the team.
My manager was excellent and provided a lot of support throughout the internship. This included a weekly one to one session to monitor my progress and address any issues. I also had a mentor who I could go to and a buddy who had undertaken the same scheme.
I was quite busy on a daily basis as my manager had given me a project for the duration of the internship. This was combined with other projects I had been given by other members of the team. If I did have some free time shadowing was encouraged and was an objective of the internship.
I was given responsibility to manage my own project and work to deadlines. This involved contacting the right people and managing expectations on when it could be completed.
The training I received was excellent and the online training central provided access to a wealth of resources that have assisted me in my final year finance studies.
The Company
The atmosphere was very welcoming but very hardworking. This appealed to me since I like a balance between fun and hard work. However, the team was always happy to help or go for a coffee to talk about their roles.
The internship was very well organised from senior talks to networking sessions. The activities provided were excellent and provided a great insight into the organisation. Together with the social activities that they organised.
The company allowed me to complete as many online courses as I wanted along with compliance training at the beginning of the internship.

Company Parties/Events
The future prospects are very appealing in the organisation and I managed to secure a graduate job offer as a result.
The Culture
There was a great social scene with fellow interns and we often went out after work for drinks. This was combined with the socials the company put on as well.
The cost of living for me was low since I commuted from home.
The nightlife was excellent. Canary wharf has many bars to enjoy in the evening.
There were a few opportunities to get involved with activities outside work. One was a corporate challenge and five a side football.
