The Role
It was an excellent experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially due to the amazing people I worked with.
To a great extend since day one.
I have been assigned a manager that explained what kind of work I had to do and what is expected of during the rotation. They help you set three business and three personal goals that guide you through the internship and help measure your achievements. Moreover, each intern is assigned a buddy that is a sort of informal guidance.
The job was from 9 to 6 so the hours were pretty good. Although during the day I was constantly working. Few times I had dead moments.
I was assigned my own projects and I was fully responsible and accountable for them.
The internship provided me with a set of skills necessary both at university and in life. Time management and project management abilities are those I have developed the most.
The Company
Very informal and friendly. I was actually surprised by the friendliness of my colleagues.
Excellent assistance both from my line manager and HR manager.
We had numerous conference calls with managing directors and the chance to speak to influential people in the company. This shows you how seriously the firm considers interns.
Financial Bonus
Healthcare/Dental
Excellent graduate scheme and fast track career is what barclays offers to its graduates.
The Culture
Not much since we were only 6 interns in the location.
Very cheap as it was outside London. Excellent compared to the salaries we received.
Not as good as London, although Bournemouth has its own respectable night life with plenty of clubs and bars.
Not many unfortunately; although volunteering activities were organised.
